SubRosa gothic Transylvanian concubine pillowsThe search for gothic bedding is a difficult and frustrating one. Department stores are loaded with “tasteful” and utterly bland beiges and pastels, and when you finally do run across something that sort of goes along with a dark boudoir, it’s usually unthinkably expensive. So we were very happy to find a little Australian shop called SubRosa, run by designer Leigh, who specializes in decor done up in goth jewel tones. Here we have a lovely set of corset-laced scatter cushions, done in delustred satin. You can also get them in black and gold, purple and gold, leopard, and a more subdued rose tapestry. The square cushion is forty-five dollars Australian, and the bolster is sixty-five AU, which comes out to be twenty-nine and forty-three U.S. dollars–about what you’d be paying at cheesy old Bed, Bath, and Beyond anyway, right? She also plans on adding less-expensive bedspreads for those of you drooling over that Celtic-crossed quilt cover.
