The practice of doing a historical style over in a modern fabric never ceases to produce amazing designs. Here’s a Victorian skirt from Australian corsetmakers Gallery Serpentine where black PVC – usually stretched across the body for skintight styles – is draped in ruffled layers as if it were a luxurious velvet or satin. The pattern is slender-styled, “popular around 1880 at a time when rigid bustles were unfashionable.” A fabulous use of fetish fabric if your style of dress is on the modest side!

This little shop in San Fran’s Hayes Valley district sells bath and body goods with plant-based ingredients, using a family-owned lab in Berkeley that’s been in operation since the 1940’s. This is one of those rare instances where a bricks-and-mortar shop came after the website, and they sell hair and skincare stuff, bath goodies, room and laundry fresheners, and a little signature apparel.

“Welcome to sappycards.com, home of the newest, freshest entry into the ’social expression’ industry. (I love saying that.)” While this might sound like a backlash site, it’s actually got some pretty good cards – understated sentiment mixed with snark, with some nice design to boot, for anniversaries, birthdays, getting well, etc.

This “true mom and pop operation” from PA does the ren-faire circuit with Irish and English pewter, a great place to look for ceremonial items bearing the Claddagh: tankards, goblets, wedding and christening sets, cake knives, dragon sculptures, and Elvish love rings from Mullingar Pewter, the English Pewter Co, St. Justin’s, and Alchemy Gothic.

Handmade photo albums which take a fashion approach to scrapbooking. Covered in fabric, the albums almost look like little purses, and each is designed with a distinct style in mind: Asian print, leopard, Scottish plaid, and other themes as well as specific albums for weddings, vacations, and babies. They can also be intended as school binders, diaries, organizers, or CD holders.
