October Effigies is KerryKate Patterson’s dollhouse of morbid curiosa and lost souls, with a distinctly flapper-era sensibility present in her troubled glamorous faces. Among the gallery of strange personae is Jane-Roy, a union of the masculine and feminine in one body. Seemingly opposing images are set side-by-side: a rouged cheek offsets a twirled mustache, a clingy pink gown contrasts against a buttoned jacket. But a lock and key finish off the visual analogy of fitting together.
