Oddity of the Week: Mono plushies

Giant Microbes mono plushieThis week’s Oddity was discovered when the Chateau made a field trip to San Francisco’s Exploratorium to check out the amazing Cabaret Mechanical Theatre exhibit. After spending the afternoon playing with optical illusions and dancing in that staple of all science museums worth their salt, the requisite run-in-front-of-the-screen-and-watch-all-the-colors-follow-you room, we happened to glance over at the gift shop, which resulted in a “what the hell is THAT?!” and a quick detour inside to find Giant Microbes, a line of stuffed animals fashioned after diseases and nasty health conditions, all rendered in cuddly plush. Behold mono, pictured above, with her flirty little eyelashes. Ebola, earaches, bad breath, and more are available on the site, and run quite cheap at about six dollars a pop.
