Oddity of the Week: Asymmetrical necklaces

Casterweeds asymmetrical necklace

Finally, after all this time that we’ve spent reliving the one-armed fashions of the 80’s revivial, we’ve found the jewelry to wear as a counterpoint! Casterweeds is an eBay seller (and eBay, we’ve noticed, has become quite the ground-zero for a LOT of street and subcultural designers over the years) who creates DIY jewelry with a distinctive cartoon-character kick: Nancy Spungen’s gun is painted pink and green and draped in chains; razorblades are framed in cascading hearts; and most everything is embellished to draw the eye to the left or the right, playing with the “white space” of the chest and collarbone, which up ’til now has been an almost completely symmetrical affair. Prices are great for this level of originality, but beware – they’re pretty popular with other bidders, too.
