Outlining various parts of the body in in skeleton bones has gotten very popular over the past few years – ribcage tees, femur-flaunting stockings, the delicate joints of a hand stretching out across the back of a fingerless mitt. But how about the whole skeleton? Australian rollerderby outfitters Berserk Clothing present the whole clattering enchilada in the enchantingly morbid hosiery of Black Milk, which wrap the legs in elegant menace.

One of the decorating credos I live by is, “if it’s something you *have* to have in your household, try and make it as cool as you can.” And needing a place to fling one’s dirty gear is an excellent opportunity to add some baroqueness to one’s boudoir. The Victorian Trading Company comes to the rescue with a collapsible laundry bin that we have found can also double as a cat tunnel while everything’s being washed.

Finally, some fancy underwear for the guys! Psylo Fashion has a range of boxers and briefs sporting fleurons, mandalas, and elegant little swirls so that the male of the species has something to strut around in provocatively when the pants come off.

You’ve seen them lurking in the background of Dangerous Liaisons, or pretty much any movie that involves courtesans, merciless scheming, and mouthwateringly baroque interiors. And if you’ve been dying to get your hands on one – provided you have enough space in your boudoir – The French Bedroom Company has a very nice “Versailles” model that not only has the antiqued gilt and essential luxe upholstery, but features glass insets for tormenting your lover with wicked bon mots while the changing of your lingerie goes unseen.

The rage for early 80’s nostalgia now comes in a distinctively goth flavor at Crimson Casket: the highly pixellated games you so enjoyed as a child, re-envisioned by Fish With Legs, for the dark side you’ve evolved since. You can practically hear the pat-choo patch-ooing of those crosses shooting up and down at each other.

Unlike last week’s Halloween Advent Calendar, this week’s post is a little more seasonally appropriate, now that the year is starting to warm up. It is time to ponder what constitutes the proper gear for running into the ocean, or lying poolside, or jumping around in a sprinkler. Those of the pinup persuasion may want to check out the goods at Esther Williams Swimwear, who have patterned a skirted suit after the dress-blowing scene in The Seven Year Itch. For the purists, their one-piece classic sheath looks very close to the white halter suit the lady wore in real life.

So it’s kind of early to be posting about items that don’t really bloom until the colder half of the year, but this is the kind of thing that makes for a birthday gift you never knew you wanted, and besides, Samhain is only six more months away, right? That said, The Sarcophagus Society has a delightful little bit of paper ephemera from artist Gillian Holmes that bestows sweet surprises while twisting the knickers of the religious right – an advent calendar that reveals “candies, toys, jewelry, ornaments, stickers, and handcrafted Halloween items” as the passing of each day opens another door.
